Assistant Coach - Recreational Gymnastics

Job Summary:

The Assistant Recreational Gymnastics Coach will assist the Lead Recreational Gymnastics Coach in providing a safe and enjoyable gymnastics experience for recreational students of all ages and skill levels. This role will allow you to gain experience and knowledge in gymnastics, spotting, class management and appropriate cognitive and physical expectations for children of all ages under the supervision and guidance of lead coaches. Responsibilities include a commitment to gaining skills and knowledge, assisting with class management, setting up and cleaning up equipment, and ensuring the safety and overall well-being of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Class Instruction:
    • Lead gymnastics classes under the supervision of the Head Coach.
    • Teach basic gymnastics skills and techniques on all events.
    • Keep students active and moving during class time by setting up, supervising and spotting supplementary drills.
    • Ensure students are following safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Provide positive encouragement and feedback to students.
  • Skill Development:
    • Assist students with individual skill development and progression.
    • Spot and assist students during challenging skills.
    • Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Safety and Supervision:
    • Maintain a safe and clean training environment.
    • Supervise students during class activities and ensure their well-being.
    • Implement emergency procedures as needed.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with the lead coach, management, and other staff members.
    • Collaborate with the coaching team to develop and implement lesson plans.
    • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents and co-workers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in gymnastics or a related sport.
  • Certification in gymnastics coaching or a willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children of all ages.

Job Summary:

As a Lead Coach for our Recreational Gymnastics Program you will be responsible for independently managing and supervising small groups of gymnasts and providing a safe and enjoyable gymnastics experience for recreational students of all ages and skill levels. This role requires that you have previous experience and knowledge of gymnastics, spotting, and class management. We expect applicants to ensure the safety and overall well-being of students of all ages, to implement appropriate skills, drills and progressions, to maintain a positive attitude and to provide exceptional coaching and instruction to our young athletes.

Responsibilities:

  • Class Instruction:
    • Provide high-quality coaching and instruction, focusing on fundamental gymnastics skills, appropriate progressions, safety and positive. sportsmanship.
    • Independently manage and supervise small groups of gymnasts.
    • Keep students active and moving during class time by setting up, supervising and spotting. supplementary drills.
    • Effectively and positively manage gymnast’s behavior and interactions.
    • Ensure students are following safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment by providing positive, individualized instruction and support.
  • Skill Development:
    • Teach proper skill progressions using USAG/USAIGC skill requirements as a guide.
    • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum, skills and drills.
    • Provide positive corrections and feedback to students.
  • Safety and Supervision:
    • Safely spot gymnasts through more challenging skills.
    • Supervise students during class activities and ensure their well-being.
    • Check equipment and matting before every rotation to ensure gymnast and staff safety.
    • Mentor, supervise and help to train assistant coaches, ensuring they adhere to the gym’s standards and provide quality instruction.
      Maintain a safe and clean training environment.
    • Implement emergency procedures as needed.
    • Create a safe and positive learning environment, emphasizing kindness, respect, and a positive attitude.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with the assistant coaches, management, and other staff members.
    • Collaborate with the coaching team to develop and implement lesson plans.
    • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents and co-workers.
  • Operational Duties:
    • Ensure classes begin on time.
    • Take accurate and complete attendance.
    • Lead engaging warm-ups with enthusiasm.
    • Announce the start of each class and call-in gymnasts.
    • Safely dismiss gymnasts to their guardians.
    • At dismissal provide positive feedback to guardians.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience coaching gymnastics, tumbling, cheer, dance or a related sport.
  • Strong understanding of gymnastics techniques, safety protocols and age appropriate skill development.
  • Basic knowledge of appropriate cognitive, behavioral and physical expectations for children of all ages.
  • Excellent communication, organization, leadership skills, and the ability to work independently at the highest level of productivity.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred but can be provided.
  • Certification in gymnastics coaching or a willingness to obtain one.

The Assistant Ninja Warrior Coach will assist the Head Ninja Warrior Coach in providing a safe and enjoyable ninja warrior experience for students of all ages and skill levels. This role involves leading ninja warrior classes, assisting with skill development, and ensuring the overall well-being of students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Class Instruction:
    • Lead ninja warrior classes under the supervision of the Head Coach.
    • Teach basic ninja warrior skills and techniques, including parkour, obstacle course navigation, and strength and conditioning exercises.
    • Support students in building perseverance, critical thinking and executive functioning skills while they navigate obstacles and challenges.
    • Ensure students are following safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Provide positive encouragement and feedback to students.
  • Skill Development:
    • Assist students with individual skill development and progression.
    • Spot and assist students during challenging obstacles.
    • Create a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Safety and Supervision:
    • Maintain a safe and clean training environment.
    • Supervise students during class activities and ensure their well-being.
    • Implement emergency procedures as needed.
  • Communication and Collaboration:

Job Description:

The Competitive Gymnastics Assistant Coach will play a pivotal role in ensuring gymnasts are competition-ready by providing expert guidance, support, and training. This position involves working closely with the competitive coaching staff to develop and implement training plans, assist with skill development, fine-tune choreography and create a positive and supportive team environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in competitive gymnastics and a passion for helping athletes reach their full potential.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with Training:
    • Lead individual and group training sessions under the supervision of the Head Coach.
    • Teach advanced gymnastics skills and techniques on each apparatus. 
    • Provide personalized coaching and feedback to athletes.
    • Work closely with the competitive coaching staff to ensure consistent and effective training.
  • Competition Preparation:
    • Accompany the team to competitions and assist with warm-ups, routines, and post-competition analysis.
    • Support athletes’ mental and emotional well-being before, during and after competitions.
    • Work closely with lead coaches to ensure all required elements have been included in choreography.
  • Team Development:
    • Foster a positive and supportive team culture.
    • Encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication.
    • Assist with team meetings, events, and fundraising activities.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, athletes, and parents.
    • Collaborate with the coaching staff to develop and implement training plans.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with USAG and/or USAIGC routines, choreography, and skill requirements.
  • Ability to coach and spot upper level gymnastics skills.
  • Background in competitive gymnastics, whether as a previous competitor or coach.
  • Coaching certification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Passion for gymnastics and a commitment to excellence.
